Foggy Wine Glasses are not the end of the World!

Foggy Wine Glasses are not the end of the World!

Foggy Wine Glasses No More!

Perhaps one of the most troubling issues that occurs when you open a bottle of wine is when even though your glasses are clean, they look very foggy.

We have all faced it at one point or other and potentially all can agree that there's something detracting about a foggy wine glass.

Before making the choice to buy new wine glasses, there are a number of things which can be done to stop fogging and bring back the lovely flicker and shine to foggy glasses that you remember from when they were first purchased.

Many people believe that it's perfectly ok to put wine glasses in the dishwasher, and some machines also have special sections on the top rack to hold wine glass stems. Beware however when putting the wine glasses in the dishwasher.  Why?

There are two real reasons for this,

The First is that dishwasher detergent has a definite tendency to be loads more unbearable and abrasive, and can etch your wine glasses, making it mist with repeated washing.

Reason number two is that the temperature in a dishwasher can become so hot that it can essentially create a glass to begin to break.

With that in mind, when washing wine glasses by hand the best method is actually simple, especially since you could be in a position to simply wash out yours glass when finished with it. Abrasive cleaning agents must be avoided at any cost, and if you feel the need to use a soap,  it is much better to only use a mild liquid dishwashing soap.

Remember to never use hard washing sponges and cloths,  and to rinse the glasses completely or the soap will leave a film deposit that might build up over time leaving a cloudy effect.

If your glasses are starting to fog, there's still something that can be done. Soak the foggy glasses in straight white vinegar for two - three hours. Then wash with luke-warm water and mild liquid dish soap and repeat the soaking process if needed to lose the leftover remnant. It might be a burdensome process, but it will be rewarding at the end when you have sparkling glasses that look stunning!
